5 Differences Between Maintenance Cleaning and Deep Cleaning

Nothing feels better than relaxing in a home that has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out, top to bottom.  We clean to rid our homes of germs, allergens, toxins, and grime that build up, and also to keep our homes looking nice.  After all, a spotless home is welcoming, comfortable, and will help you relax after a long day.

A house that has been deep cleaned feels even better than a house that has simply been tidied up, but what are the real differences between these types of cleaning?

    1. Thoroughness

Above all, deep cleaning has to do with an unsurpassed level of thoroughness.  Throughout the day you wipe up spills, put away clutter, and take care of the little tasks that go with maintaining a tidy home. Even when you set aside an hour or two to clean, you may only do a simple tidying of one room or one area.  When you deep clean your home, however, you clean every crack and crevice.  Think of it this way:

When you tidy up, you’ll take out the trash, but when you deep clean, you’ll also sanitize the trash can itself.  You’ll sweep the dust bunnies from under the heavy furniture, and wipe down the baseboards, crown moulding, and the blades of the ceiling fan. Deep cleaning gives us a chance to get to those areas that are only cleaned 2-3 times per year.

    2. Time

Whereas maintenance cleaning and tidying up may only take an hour here and there, deep cleaning is a significant time commitment. You’ll need to set aside anywhere from a full day to a few weekends, depending on the size of your house, the scale of your deep cleaning project, and just how spotless you want your home to be when you’re finished.

It takes time, but the peace of mind it gives you makes it all worth it.  Germs are banished, and your home is ready to welcome any guest who might stop by.

    3. Planning

First, set aside the right block of time.  Deep cleaning is not an afternoon chore, but rather more of a weekend-long event.  Second, make an actual plan for your deep cleaning in order to make it as efficient as possible, and to ensure you don’t leave anything out.

For example, walk through each room in the house making a detailed checklist of everything you want to clean, and what you’ll need to clean it.  Third, plan for any extra help you’ll need.  If you need to move heavy furniture, plan to have someone around to help you do so. Plan to get the whole family involved during a deep clean project.

    4. Supplies

You likely already stock the standard cleaning supplies in your home, but for a deep cleaning project, you may need to purchase additional supplies.  You may even want to rent specialized equipment for a certain task or borrow a ladder for a hard-to-reach area of the house. Reference the checklist you made while planning, and make sure you have or can get everything you need.

    5. Results

The results of your deep cleaning will distinguish it from any other type of cleaning.  After you have tidied up, your house simply no longer looks dirty.  However, after you have deep cleaned your house, it glows!  Marble surfaces gleam, appliances sparkle, and dirt and grime are nowhere to be found.

Nothing feels better than relaxing in a home that has been deep cleaned.  The only problem is that it takes energy, money, and a hefty time commitment to make your home this clean.  The best thing you can do for yourself and your home is to hire one of the best professional house cleaning services and let their skilled cleaners do it for you!

A Tile Cleaning Sydney Company will send a team of 2-3 trained and experienced house cleaners, so your home will be cleaned thoroughly as well as efficiently.

Flotation therapy in a float tank is arguably one of the best forms of therapy for many different ailments. Sadly, many people don’t understand exactly what flotation therapy is, how a float tank works and what benefits this type of therapy can provide.

    What Is A Float Tank?

A float tank is essentially a large tub that is specially designed to allow you enough room to float in water that is approximately the same temperature as your normal body temperature. Many of these tanks are specially designed to be able to allow for sensory deprivation which many people claim has been able to help them with meditation, re-centering with your mind, and many other health benefits.

While the therapy is a relatively newer one, it has started to become more popular in recent years as a great way to re-center yourself and is now often used in conjunction with other therapy methods for the treatment of certain injuries and other issues.

How Does A Float Tank Work?

In a standard float tank, you lie back on your back and relax your body so that you can just float in the water. This alleviates muscle strain, relieves pressure from joints, and delivers a feeling of overall weightlessness that allows for optimal relaxation.

In a sensory deprivation float tank, this experience is taken to a whole new level as outside noises and other distracting stimulation is removed from the environment and you can completely relax and find yourself alone with your thoughts. Many people claim that this helps them obtain a centering effect and allows them to approach their days feeling renewed and less stressed than they were prior to their floating session.

What Can Float Tanks Be Used For?

Since float tanks are still relatively new, many people do not understand exactly what they can be used for. Float tanks can help to aid in therapy for many different situations.

As mentioned above, the first one that comes to mind is for re-centering and mental health. Many people claim that using a sensory deprivation tank allows them to re-center their mind and also helps to relieve stress and anxiety. This allows for more productive days, and helps people to get more accomplished without having to worry about day to day stressors as often.

This type of therapy isn’t only limited to mental health. Many therapists are now recommending floating for injuries, muscle pain, chronic pain, and much more.

Water has been proven to help with the healing process for muscle stiffness and soreness in float tanks allow you to be in a very relaxed state while allowing water to help heal muscle injuries while also promoting circulation to the affected muscle groups.

Many people suffering from chronic pain from disease processes such as arthritis or multiple sclerosis claim that float tanks help them tremendously when it comes to their day-to-day pain relief. While they may not relieve pain entirely, they certainly can help with pain relief to the point of being able to handle pain with over-the-counter medications rather than relying on narcotic pain relief.

Of course, it goes without saying the people suffering from disease processes that cause chronic long-term pain should certainly consult with their physicians before beginning any type of new therapy or medication regimens.

    Final Thoughts

As you can see above, regardless of if you are using a regular float tank or a sensory deprivation tank, the benefits of this type of therapy can be numerous and can also be very long-lasting. While float tanks are not designed to completely alleviate symptoms, when used in conjunction with traditional therapy forms, many people claim that the results are impressive.

If you suffer from recent traumatic injuries, chronic pain, or you just need a way to relax and unwind from the daily stressors of life, then you should certainly take the time to consider trying out a float tank before you begin more severe therapy options that may have far more potential complications.

Direct Denture – All About Dentures

Dentures are a removable replacement for one or more missing teeth and the surrounding tissue. Even though dentures can never completely replace one’s natural teeth and can take some time to get used to, with today’s technology and advancements in dental care, dentures are looking more natural and are more comfortable than ever before.

There are two types of dentures that are most commonly used: full dentures and partial dentures.

Partial dentures are used when there are a few natural teeth that remain, while complete dentures, on the other hand, are used when the patient is missing all of their natural teeth.

Your dentist will help you make the best and most informed decision about the type of dentures that are best suited to you, if any or all of your teeth need to be replaced and the associated costs that are involved.

What are dentures and how do they work?

Dentures are artificial teeth that have been bonded to an acrylic base, that is usually flesh-coloured, and is moulded to fit over your gums and replicate the look of a full set of teeth.
The acrylic base of upper dentures cover the roof of your mouth, while lower dentures are specially created to accommodate your tongue and as a result, the base is shaped like a horseshoe.

All dentures are custom made by expert dentists in a laboratory for each individual patient. An impression is taken of your mouth to ensure the perfect fit. There are three types of dentures that are available, and your dentist will help you to describe which is the best-suited option for you.

    Conventional Full Denture

Full Dentures | Direct Denture Care

Conventional full dentures are only placed into the mouth once all remaining natural teeth have been removed and the surrounding tissue has had ample time to fully heal. The one drawback of this type of denture treatment is that the healing process can take several months. During this time, you will be left without teeth at all.

    Immediate Full Denture

Immediate Full Dentures are placed into the immediately after all remaining natural teeth have been removed from the mouth. Your dentist will take an impression of your mouth and make models of your jaw before the removal of your teeth.
While Immediate Full Dentures offer patients the benefit of not having to go without teeth during the healing process, you will be expected to reline the dentures every few months once they have been inserted. This is because as the mouth begins to heal, the bone that supports the teeth will begin to shift and reshape. This will cause the dentures to become loose and not provide a secure fit.

    Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are artificial teeth that rest on a metal base and is attached to your existing natural teeth. In some cases, crowns are placed on some of the natural teeth to act as anchors to hold the dentures into place.Partial dentures are a removable alternative to bridges.

How long does it take to get used to Dentures?

Dental patients who receive dentures may experience discomfort for the first few weeks, or even months, while they get used to them being positioned in the mouth. Learning to eat and speak with dentures usually takes some time and practise until you feel that you are able to do so freely.

Experiencing bulkiness or a loose fitting denture is extremely common as the muscles in your face, cheeks and tongue learn to naturally hold the dentures in your mouth and in place. Some patients also encounter an excessive amount of saliva flow or feel as though that their tongue does not have adequate room in their mouth, however, this is not unusual and your muscles will gradually learn to readapt to support the dentures.

    How long do Dentures last?

Due to natural wear and tear, dentures will need to be relined, remade or rebased. Rebasing is when the existing teeth remain the same, however, a new base is made.

It is important to note that as we age, the mouth will naturally change shape. It is because of this that dentures can become loose, which makes eating and speaking difficult, and can even irritate the gums. It is advised that you visit your dentist at least once a year for an overall checkup and to monitor your dentures.

Tips for caring for your Dentures:

Here are tips for caring for your dentures:

    • Dentures are extremely delicate and are prone to breaking when dropped. When inserting, removing and handling your dentures, stand over a basin to reduce the fall, or over a folded towel to soften the landing should an accident occur.
    • It is important that you do not let your dentures completely dry out. When you are not using the dentures, place them in a soaking solution made for dentures, or in regular, room temperature water. NEVER use hot water as this can cause them to warp and become misshapen.
    • Brush and clean your dentures daily. This will not only remove the food debris and plaque that has built up throughout the day, but it also prevents them from becoming stained so that they can last you for longer.
Before placing the dentures into your mouth each day, remember to brush your gums, tongue, the roof of your mouth and cheeks with a soft bristled brush. This will not only remove plaque which allows you to achieve optimum oral health, but it will promote blood circulation.
    • Should you experience a break, chip, crack or the dentures simply become loose over time, seek the help of your dentist. Do not attempt to repair them yourself as this can cause greater, more permanent damage to the dentures.

If you are thinking about dentures and want to achieve the best results, then get in touch with Direct Denture Care today and receive quality dentures. Simply call us to book an appointment or to request more information about your oral health.

The Importance of Clean Water and Reasons to Get Drinking Water Tested

Water is one of our most important resources in our natural environment. Much of our water supplies are sourced from lakes and rivers. Some private water users may also rely on water collected in dams, bores and rainwater tanks.

For most of us living in urbanised areas, water is treated to remove chemicals, particulates and bacteria before it is delivered to our homes. This clean, potable water is then used for everyday activities that may include drinking, cooking, cleaning and watering plants.

However, due to the possibility of extreme weather conditions, as well as other possible factors, we may need extra certainty about its quality and whether it is safe to drink. For instance, if you live near mines, water in your area might be affected by dust.

    Water Test | Envirolab Services

In agricultural areas, intensive farming practices may result in higher concentrations of nutrients in water sources, which may also affect ecosystems; high levels of nutrients may stimulate algae and other aquatic plants to grow well beyond the amount needed to support the biological community.

For this reason, testing by an accredited laboratory like Envirolab is required to confirm the quality of the water, and the treatment required, as based on the intended use.

    • Landfill leachates
    • Saline water
    • Surface water
    • Waste water
    • Stormwater, drain and sewage water
    • Swimming pool and spas

Collecting a Water Sample for Testing

    Sampling for testing typically involves:

    1. Taking the sample in a bottle leaving no air gap
    2. Chilling the sample to less than 6°C (ice bricks are preferred to ice)
    3. Ensuring the sample arrives at the laboratory within 24 hours of collection
    4. Labelling the bottle/s with a sample ID and sample date (ensure multiple bottles from the same sample point have the same sample ID to avoid confusion)

Please contact your local Envirolab laboratory via phone 1300 424 344, email or visit our Online Ordering page to order your required bottles, eskies and ice bricks for sampling.

6 Tips for Hiring a House Painter in Melbourne

    house painter melbourne

While painting a house can be completed through a DIY approach, more and more people are starting to hire a professional painter instead. Hiring a painter to do your house painting project has tons of great benefits. Since it is their job to get your house painted, you can be sure they will do it well. As you know, it’s easy to start a project, and then never get around to finishing it (or taking weeks and weeks just working on it in your spare time).

If you end up doing this during a painting project though, the walls are going to end up looking rather odd for a while. For this reason, it’s a good idea to hire a professional house painter Melbourne instead. But before deciding who to hire, think through some of these items and make sure that your house painting company checks out:

    1. Look for a Trustworthy Company

There are a lot of different painting companies out there, and you need to make sure you can trust the painter you choose. Some house painter Melbourne companies will not take proper care of your property. Since you will let these people into your home, you need to be sure you can trust them.

To make sure they are trustworthy, ask them if they will take care of your stuff and can guarantee that no damage will come from them. A trustworthy company will assure you that they will cover your furniture, paint carefully, and take their time. If any paint does get on any of your properties, a good house painting company will carry insurance to replace this for you.

    2. Ask for an Estimate From at least Three Painting Companies Before Hiring

Good companies offer good prices. If you get a few different estimates, they should all be similar. Though each company will use different formulas to do their pricing, a huge difference in prices will make you aware of possible issues. It will also impress the house painting guy when you demonstrate that you know your stuff.

Here’s an example: One painter offers to do a job for 300 and another for 350, when you ask the second painter why it costs more, he shakes his head and says “that’s odd, we are considered to be one of the lowest priced companies around”. So you tell him “well looks like you’re not after all” and hire the first guy. Then it turns out the first guy will only do one coat of paint and won’t use a primer. The moral of this story is you get what you pay for, and it is crucial to ask the painter the services that are covered by his price.

    3. Ask the House Painting Company Exactly What Services are Covered

While you might think this is obvious, it’s surprising how many times people forget to ask. If you are not clear about learning what a house painter Melbourne Company can do for you, they can do whatever they like and charge you any price they wish. So instead, be clear ahead of time, and learn what services are included in the price.

Check what services are offered by asking some of these questions:

    • Will they cover your furniture?
    • Will they remove fixtures from your wall such as light switch covers, electrical outlets, and glow in the night lights? (bad painters just paint around this stuff, which will look tacky if you ever decide to move your things around down the road)
    • Do they paint baseboards?
    • How about ceilings?
    • Does ceiling height or accessibility matter?

All of these questions should be taken into account in the pricing. Many house painting companies just roll everything together into one master-price, and if you don’t ask about it, you won’t know what you are being charged for.

    4. Find Out if the Company is Licensed

You would be surprised by how many people decide to start up a painting company and don’t get the proper licensing first. While these companies are not bad, you know what you’ll get with a licensed company. They will do a professional job, all of their pricing is up to certain standards and guarantee a good job.

    5. Ask How Many Coats of Paint Will Be Applied

Good house painter Melbourne companies will apply a primer coat with at least two coats of colour. Be sure to ask them what exactly they will do for you. Some companies will even sand the walls to help the paint stick better, and make it last a lot longer. For the most part, as long as more than two coats of paint are applied, you should be fine.

    6. Check if They Conduct Business in a Professional Manner

A successful Painting Melbourne Expert’s Company is experienced in house painting. They will show up to meetings on time, provide a clear idea of what services they provide, and they will stick to their word. A flaky house painter won’t last very long in the painting business. Ask them questions about how long they have been in business, can they provide references and the like.

If you follow this list when hiring your next house painter Melbourne Company, you will have a much happier experience. Why go through all the stress of painting a house yourself when there are great companies that can do it all for you, at affordable prices? Besides if you care about your home, it’s worth investing a little bit in making it look nice. A good paint job will last a long time and adds a lot to your home.

    What are Freckles?

Freckles are small patches of colour on the skin that can be brown, tan, red, black, or even yellow. They often become more pronounced with exposure to the sun, and in some cases could be genetic. They can occur anywhere on the body but are most commonly seen on the face and arms. They are not a health threat to anyone and are very common. They are seen more in the summer than in the winter, and often are seen on those with light complexions, blonde hair and red hair, but can be ultimately seen on anyone.

One such method is Laser/IPL, which is the single most effective way to remove freckles. IPL stands for intense pulse light.

This treatment is suitable for those that are wanting to remove freckles or reduce excessive freckling of the skin, want an even skin tone or would like to target a specific age spot. This is a quick procedure that is very easy for a skin specialist to perform. Often times it will take between 30 to 90 minutes to perform, based on where the treatment is being done at.

Many times a single freckle removal treatment will be needed to remove the freckles, however, it is not uncommon to have a few more sessions after the initial one for the best possible results. If multiple freckle removal treatments are used, three to six weeks will be needed for each treatment.

The intense pulse light will target the areas of the skin that have excess pigment, breaking down the excess melanin. Eye pads or glasses will be used to protect the eyes, and a cooling gel can be placed on the skin.

Short bursts of light that have been filtered will be absorbed by the high concentration of melanin that is found in the freckles. The melanin will then be heated by this process, which in turn will eradicate the melanin rich cells.

After the freckle removal treatment, the cooling gel will be wiped off, and a moisturiser with sunscreen will be applied. Anywhere between a few days and up until 2 weeks after treatment, the freckles will darken, but then will fade away as the excessive melanin is shed. This treatment is not recommended for persons with very dark or tanned skin complexions, nor for those that are pregnant.

How does IPL work for Freckle Removal

Upon receiving IPL, there will be a light tingling sensation that feels warm. It can be an uncomfortable process, with the skin being red after the procedure is finished. Some skin specialists will use topical anesthetics.

However, not everyone that has this treatment done finds pain associated with it

There could be mild swelling after the treatment, which should subside within a few hours to a few days.  Small blisters could form, but this is very rare.

Benefits to using IPL for Freckle Removal

There are many benefits to having IPL done on the skin. First off, it is non-invasive. This means there will be no surgery involved, and patients can often return to their normal daily activities as soon as the procedure is done.

Secondly, it is quick on the skin. Often times, after one treatment, skin tone will be noticeably more even.

    Freckle Removal Cost

A single full face treatment will run between $400 to $600, while a neck, face and chest treatment is between $900 to $2000. This will all depend on who is doing the freckle removal treatment, it also depends on the area of treatment. Only allow a certified skin specialist or doctor to perform the freckle removal treatment on your skin.

They should have experience with laser treatments and be willing to answer any question that you may have about the procedure. To speak to one of our skin specialist about the freckle removal treatment you can call us on 1300 or request a callback.

Red Eyes and Dry EyesIt is often said that eyes are the windows to a person’s soul but they are also our window onto the world. However, every year 10,000 Australians go blind and around 200,000 Australians have vision impairment that cannot be corrected by spectacles. Every 65 minutes an Australian loses part or all of their vision. Maintaining good eye health should be a priority for all.

Every year, for the month of July, The Eye Surgeons’ Foundation (the fundraising arm of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and The Ophthalmic Research Institute of Australia) runs JulEYE – the Foundation’s national eye health awareness month.

JulEYE aims to raise community awareness of eye health issues, as well as raise funds for research projects into the causes and cures of vision impairment and blindness. The campaign also supports international and domestic development projects whose goals are aligned with those of The Eye Surgeons’ Foundation.

Red eyes and dry eyes are common eye problems. Redness and dryness are symptoms of many eye conditions. Some of these conditions are not serious, but others are serious and may affect eyesight.

A red eye can be a sign of eye inflammation. The most common cause of red eye(s) is conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis can be caused by allergy, irritation or infection. The treatment of eye redness depends on its cause and can include:

    •         decongestant eye drops to reduce redness (should only be used for a few days)
    •         antihistamine eye drops to relieve redness and itching
    •         antibiotic eye drops to treat bacterial (not viral) conjunctivitis.

Dry eyes can be caused by:

    •         not producing enough tears
    •         poor quality tears
    •         tears not staying in the eyes long enough
    •         a low blinking rate (e.g. when reading or using a computer).

Dry eyes can be relieved with lubricating eye drops, gels and ointments.

To prevent red eyes and dry eyes:

    •         Wear wrap-around sunglasses when outside in bright light, windy, dry or allergy conditions.
    •         Wear eye protection when swimming or working with machines and chemicals.
    •         Try to find and avoid allergy triggers.
    •         Do not rub your eyes.
    •         Avoid blowing air in your eyes (e.g. hair dryers, fans, car heaters).
    •         Blink more often to relieve dryness.
    •         Take regular breaks when reading or using a computer.
    •         Use good lighting.
    •         Do not wear contact lenses if you have an eye infection.
    •         Limit alcohol.
    •         Avoid smoke (e.g. cigarette smoke).

Regular testing from birth encourages good eye health and helps to avoid permanent damage and vision loss. The Eye Surgeons’ Foundation recommends eye testing every two years. Ask relatives about your family’s eye health history, and have your eyes tested, during JulEYE.

If you notice any changes in your vision, or have any concerns, you should see your doctor, ophthalmologist or optometrist immediately. Your local GP or optometrist can give you a referral to an ophthalmologist for testing.

    Obesity in Australia

According to Australian Bureau of Statistics, in 2014-15, 63.4% of Australians aged 18 years and over were overweight or obese (11.2 million people), comprised of 35.5% overweight (6.3 million people) and 27.9% obese (4.9 million people). A further 35.0% were of normal weight and 1.6% were underweight. In spite of the health risk of obesity and overweight, only one in 10 Australians who are trying to lose weight seeks advice from health professionals for a lifestyle management.

    Obesity in Australia

It seems that this is something that so many people are struggling with in the world today – along with financial stress.

    • The question is how can we take control of it?
    • How can we reach the fitness level that we want?
    • How can we become healthy and happy?

Now it’s an interesting thing – a lot of people know the right and wrong foods to eat, they know that they need to do some sort of exercise every day to stay healthy and happy; they know that over-consumption of anything is harmful to their health… So why do they still do it and not minding about lifestyle management?

In March 2011, around 50,000 people were weighed, measured, interviewed and had bio-medical samples taken by the Australian Health Survey.

The results of the study have shown that obesity rates in adults are continuing to grow and grow and grow and that 63% of Australians are now in the class of overweight or obese.

It has also shown that 67% of Australians to little to no exercise.

Obesity in Australia has doubled in the last 20 years, which has left Australia ranked as one of the fattest nations in the world.

In America, over $147 billion is spent, per year, on obesity-related medical costs. It was stated in a report that by 2030, that will rise to $210 billion per year with new cases of type 2 diabetes and other obesity-related diseases rising from the 1.5 million per year mark, all the way up to the 8 million mark.

There has been a massive uprise of childhood diabetes and it’s thought that parents will begin to out-live their children.

As children, we just do as we see and if you are overweight and don’t really care, then consider the effect it will have on your children.

Do you want them to grow up to live happy, healthy and successful lives?

Because the only way that we can start to combat this epidemic is through making the decision to live healthily and sticking to it. If we start now and keep at it, then the effect will carry through the generations, like knocking over dominoes.

See living a healthy lifestyle is an easy thing to do, and the catch is that it is also easy not to do. Most people think that it will be hard so they don’t even begin – those that do begin, they don’t stick at it, they didn’t notice instant results and give up and go back to the “comfortable” lifestyle they are used to.

People didn’t become obese overnight, it was the accumulation of years and years of mistreating your body and not choosing the better options that are always available.

Options to Fight Obesity in Australia:

First change the way you think about a healthy lifestyle, then decide on some little action steps you can take and stick to, then allow the momentum to build and build and build, and as it builds, start to add more and more little steps and stick to them, before long you will be exactly how you want to be and you will look back and think “How did I actually let myself live like that?”

Secondly, have a preparation phase – the time where you are mentally building yourself up for your amazing weight-loss adventure, where you are making all the little decisions that count.

Thirdly, remove all potential hazards from your environment during the active phase – i.e. unhealthy foods, the people that want you to go out indulging in unhealthy habits etc. Clean the fridge out, get rid of all unhealthy food, no excuses like “The cookies and cake are for the kid’s lunch”, if you are going to get healthy, then the entire household will! This isn’t forever, just until you’re happy with yourself.

Fourthly, the very important key to long-term healthiness is this: Start eating more than you normally do. This will increase your metabolism, all you need to do is that your food intake is the right stuff! The clean stuff!

Do it for yourself, do it for your family and be happy.

Everything You Need to Know About Getting Dental Bridges

As the name suggests, dental bridges fill the gap left by missing teeth. On either side of the gap, the bridge is held in place by crowns on the remaining teeth, which act as anchors and are often referred to as abutment teeth. False teeth are inserted in place of the missing teeth and are made from different materials such as porcelain, alloys or gold. Dental bridges are usually supported by implants or natural teeth.

    Benefits

    •                    Do you hide your smile because of your missing teeth? Dental bridges can restore your beautiful smile, giving you more confidence in everyday life.
    •                    If you are having trouble speaking or chewing food properly, dental bridges will restore your ability to do these simple things. On the other hand, you might have become accustomed to chewing on the side opposite your missing teeth. Well, the dental bridges will distribute your chewing and biting functions properly.
    •                    Missing teeth can alter the shape of your face considerably. With dental bridges, you face will look normal again.
    •                    Finally, the remaining teeth in the mouth can drift out of position if the gap left by the missing teeth isn’t filled. Dental bridges will certainly keep your gums and teeth looking normal as they should.

    Types

Dental bridges can be found in the following types.

    1.         Traditional – Here, the bridge is created by using a crown for the implant or tooth on both sides of the gap and placing a pontic in between. These are the most common bridges and are made up of ceramics or porcelain which is fused to metals.
    2.         Cantilever – These come in handy if there are adjacent teeth found on only one side of the missing teeth. These bridges are not as common as they used to be and are not to be used in the back of the mouth since they can put a lot of force on the other teeth leading to damage.
    3.         Maryland Bonded – Also referred to as resin-bonded or Maryland bridges, they are made up of porcelain fused to metal, plain porcelain and a porcelain framework that supports plastic gums and teeth. Porcelain or metal wings found on one side of the bridge are bonded to the teeth still existing.

How are They Placed in the Mouth?

    Dental Bridges

Once you talk to your dentist about getting a dentalbridge,he/she will prepare the abutment teeth. Here, the dentist will remove a portion of the enamel to allow a crown to be placed over the teeth. Next, the dentist makes impressions of your teeth to work as a model to create the crowns, pontic or bridge in the dental lab.

Before these features are created, the dentist should provide you with a temporary bridge that protects the exposed gums or teeth while the bridge is being prepared. Once it’s done, the temporary bridge is removed and the new one is adjusted necessarily to fit in your mouth. You might have to visit the dentist a few times to make sure that the bite and metal framework fit properly.

However, the extra visits are merely dependent on each individual. Once final adjustments have been made and the patient is happy with the fit, the dental bridges are cemented into place after a few weeks. Once installed, dental bridges can last for at least 15 years and more. However, you need to maintain exceptional oral hygiene and go for regular check-ups from the dentist.

If you have dental insurance, it should cover a part of the cost which depends on the amount of work being done.
